We are working to update this website and will have new info in early April.
Empowering First Responders on Their Path to Wellness
We would like to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves and the services we provide.
We are OTR Wellness Counseling and Support Services. OTR is a small women-owned private practice located conveniently in NW Washington, DC and Old Town Alexandria, VA. OTR is metro accessible and in safe and confidential locations.
The mission of OTR is to provide ethical and professional clinical services to all our clients. We run our practice with integrity and as a team. We transitioned after 17 years to a Nonprofit to allow for more trauma related services and wellness services for our local first responders to be covered. We have provided varied free supportive services to those in need in the Washington, DC metro area throughout the years and with funding we hope to continue to grow in what we can provide without financial barriers for our clients.
OTR’s commitment to our clients is to empower, support, and guide them on a journey of healing and growth.
OTR believes that in order to provide the best treatment, clinicians should be flexible and diverse in their therapeutic approach. Good treatment does not simply come in the form of a worksheet, a manual, a quick technique, or a text book. When you look at the big picture of therapy you see CBT techniques woven into practice with other theoretical approaches to truly address the person as a whole.

Both women have worked clinically with juvenile court systems, local law enforcement, and social service agencies. Sarah and Jennifer have been trained and volunteered with their local Disaster Response Mental Health Teams. All our staff are experienced in the inclusive treatment of trauma related issues as well as working with public safety, humanitarian aid workers, healthcare workers, and military.
OTR clinicians have been leaders in implementing and creating new systems of change in programs to address the unmet needs of clients while supervising treatment teams (clinicians, MA student interns, and direct care staff). In leading treatment teams, Jennifer and Sarah have always made concerted efforts in assessing the team’s needs, advocating for, and creating positive work environments.
OTR offers day, evening, and weekend appointments to be flexible with our client’s life schedules to the best of our ability. We begin with an intake assessment appointment to decide what best fits your needs. We also may ask for a phone screening when needed to make the best decision on the services requested. At this time we have a small team of clinicians with varied times available. You are welcome to be added to OTR’s wait list if open until a clinician atOTR is available. We assess the need of the requests and for specific populations referred to us. (We are offering limited COUPLES therapy at this time)
